Who can renew their Golden Visa?

If your current Golden Visa was granted before April 3rd, 2025, you can renew it under the same conditions that applied when it was first issued. The renewal will be for a 5-year period, and there is no limit to how many times you can renew, provided the requirements are still met.

What are the main renewal requirements?

To successfully renew your Golden Visa, you must prove that:
Investment
The investment is still maintained (e.g., property, business, shares, etc.).
Absence of criminal records
You have no criminal record in Spain or abroad (a certificate from your home country is only required if you’ve been outside Spain for more than 6 months).
Health Insurance
You’ve maintained continuous private health insurance in Spain during the entire validity period.
Entry into Spain
You have entered Spain at least once during the current permit’s validity (living full-time in Spain is not required).

If you are renewing as a family member, you must also provide proof that the family relationship still exists.

Can I change the type of investment?

In some cases, yes. The law allows certain conversions of investment types, as long as the minimum investment amount is respected:

✅ You can switch from real estate to another type of investment, or between other non-property investments.

❌ You cannot switch from a non-property investment to real estate and still keep your permit.
